Music Mondays for Moms (Week 2)

How many days end or begin with a lack of peace? It’s easy to just start the day running headfirst, not having a minute to catch your breath. When days begin in this way- I struggle and tend to look to the past, when things were “better” (not really). In these struggling moments, I long for “those days,” the slow mornings on the dock or porch, endless cups of (hot) coffee, an open Bible and as much time as I wanted to journal. Yes. Those days.

Yet, life is not to be lived only in wishing away for the past or the future. The fact is, life as a mama usually means mornings that are earlier, coffee is (sometimes) cold, and the idea of an open-ended amount of time to yourself is…giggle-worthy ;).

However, this season is so precious, as many older moms would remind us of how quickly this time will go by…even though the days are so long sometimes.

This song reminds us of the joy we receive when we go to Him first and foremost, for our joy. Even if we do so with a cold cup of coffee, morning breath, messy hair and littles around our legs. You see, peace doesn’t have to found only in a perfectly quiet place of alone time while reading God’s word. Time with the Lord happens even in the midst of the baby’s cries and the rhythm of life caring for them. That’s the beauty of being His daughter. He is always with you.

It’s taken me so long to let go of the reality of the “good old days” of what my quiet time used to look life. But now, this song reminds me, that the Lord is right here, with me, in this season. And while it might take me 5x as long to read the one chapter I want to read as opposed to what life was like before motherhood, He’s here. And He’s still speaking to me. And you too, Mama.

Be encouraged. The joy will pour out of your heart and words and life when you live in the reality of the peace and presence of God.

“Joy Pours Out” by Christy Nockels

Peace you leave me, peace you give me
A gift no one can give
A kind that fills your heart, and makes you sing
And from the first, You have loved me
And I am in Your keep
So home to Your safe harbor, take me

Won’t You come, and lay my weary heart down down
Where Your peace flows wide, at that river’s mouth
Won’t You come, and lay my weary heart down down
Where Your peace flows in, and Your joy pours outYou know I need a place to hide, and here I am again
Your quiet whisper leads me here
And here is where I remember, that You led me here before
And oh how I love knowing Your name

Where Your peace flows in, and Your joy pours out

That’s when the joy pours out
That’s when the joy pours out
That’s when the joy pours out
When the peace flow in, and the joy pours out,

Where Your peace flows in, and Your joy pours out
Jesus Your peace flows in, and Your joy

Where Your joy pours out

Where Your peace flows in, and Your joy pours out
Jesus Your peace flows in, and Your joy

Where Your joy pours out
